What is the eligibility criteria and age limit for the CSS Exam 2026?

According to official Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) regulations, candidates must be Pakistani citizens between 21 and 30 years of age on 31st December of the examining year. Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree (14 years of education) with a minimum 2nd Division or Grade C from an HEC-recognized university. Age relaxation of up to 2 years (maximum 32 years) is granted to government employees with two years of continuous service and candidates from recognized minorities/scheduled castes.

What is the passing score and format of the CSS MPT Screening Test?

The MCQ-Based Preliminary Test (MPT) is a mandatory 200-mark screening test with 200 multiple-choice questions. The test duration is 200 minutes. To qualify, candidates must score at least 33% (66 marks out of 200). There is no negative marking in MPT, and marks scored in MPT do not count toward the final competitive merit; it is strictly a qualifying gateway for the main written examination.

The CSS Written Examination carries a total of 1,200 marks: 600 marks for 6 Compulsory subjects and 600 marks for Optional subjects chosen from 7 groups. To qualify, candidates must achieve:
